Dunkin' Donuts Makes Its Return To Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Twin Cities residents who crave the taste of Dunkin' Donuts pastries, or their equally endorsed coffee drinks, don't have to drive to Wisconsin any longer.

They just have to drive to Rochester.

A new Dunkin Donuts location just opened in the Kahler Grand Hotel at 15 First Ave. SW.

Furthermore, there is a plan to open five more Dunkin' Donuts in Rochester over the next several years.

There may soon be stores in other parts of the state as well, including the Twin Cities. A Dunkin' Brands executive said, "We are excited about our continued development throughout Rochester as well as Minneapolis, Mankato and Duluth in the years to come."

Earlier this year, we reported that Steve Rafferty, senior director of U.S. franchising at Dunkin' Brands, said his stores are confident they will compete and succeed in Minnesota.

Dunkin' did explore returning to the Twin Cities a few years ago, but Rafferty says the timing wasn't right. The expansion could reportedly also include the return of Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream stores to the state.
