Bachmann Considering Another Presidential Run?

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann says she is not necessarily thinking about running for president again, disputing a recent report that suggested she was.

Real Clear Politics said Bachmann told them there's a chance she could run, which was her response to the question of whether she thought any Republican women might seek the nomination.

On Wednesday, Bachmann clarified: "The reporter's underlying premise was that no woman would run for President on the Republican ticket in 2016, and if that would hurt the Republican Party. I disagreed with that premise. My main point in the interview was that the media has failed to consider that there are a number of strong, accomplished, intelligent Republican women who could be in the mix for 2016.

"I asked why the media assumes no Republican woman would run for President in 2016, including potentially someone like me," she said in a Facebook post. "At this time I have indicated no intention to once again run for the top spot in 2016."

Bachmann said last year she didn't plan to run for re-election for her Minnesota seat in congress this year.

She has previously said she planned to retire at the end of her term.
