Woman Hit, Killed By Car In Minnetonka Beach Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A woman who was hit by a car in Minnetonka Beach and later died has been identified.

On Thursday night, Orono Police were called at about 8:30 p.m. to a personal injury accident on the 2600 block of Arcola Lane in the city of Minnetonka Beach. When officers arrived, a woman was injured after having been hit by a car. The woman was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center, where she later died.

On Sunday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 57-year-old Diane Rawlings Meder. She died from multiple blunt force injuries.

A 57-year-old man from Minnetonka Beach, identified by authorities as David Christopher Meder, was taken into custody and booked into the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation resulting in a death.

What led up to the accident is still under investigation, but authorities said it appears that alcohol may have been a factor.
