Sheriff: 14-Year-Old Mother Hospitalized After Newborn's Death
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Watonwan County Sheriff's Office has released more information regarding the newborn death in Butterfield, Minn.
At 5:45 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a home on 120 3rd Street North to the report of an unresponsive newborn. The newborn was pronounced dead by the medical examiner and the body was then taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
A 14-year-old girl was then taken to the Saint James Mayo Hospital and later transferred to Mankato Mayo Hospital.
On Monday, the sheriff's office confirmed the 14-year-old was the mother of the newborn child. She delivered the baby at the residences within a few hours of calling 911.
The newborn's cause of death has still not been determined pending reports from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.
No arrests have been made and the case is still under investigation.
