Viewers' Best MN Massage: Special Touch In Redwood Falls

REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. (WCCO) -- In the summer, Minnesotans love to be outside. That might mean kayaking, golfing, hiking or just gardening.

But all that activity can leave you a little sore. So this week, Matt Brickman went to find the best place in Minnesota to get a massage. Viewer votes sent him two hours southwest of the Twin Cities to Special Touch Massage and Day Spa in Redwood Falls.

You won't find Special Touch in a strip mall or a busy downtown business district. Instead, you'll travel down a gravel road and arrive at the edge of a wildlife reserve.

The land has been in Krista Trebesch's family for five generations. When she decided to open a business three years ago, it just felt right.

"You remember the move Field of Dreams? This is my field of dreams," she said. "This place has always been a place of peace for me."

Inside is everything you'd hope to find at a spa -- hair styling, facials, manis, pedis. But massage is Trebesch's true passion.

"When you get up from a massage you feel altered. You feel such a deep relaxation that you can't even really put into words," she said.

In her nine years as a massage therapist, she's seen just about every type of person on her table.

"We have children, we have athletes, we have men, women, farmers," she said. "You name it."

She even handles TV reporters who are terrified to take their clothes off on TV, like WCCO's own Matt Brickman.

"You know what, take a deep breath for me and just let it go," Trebesch said.

Brickman said that, even with a camera in the room, the massage left him feeling pretty relaxed, and that it didn't take long to figure out why people travel from all over to see her.

"I am blessed. I am a blessed woman to have wonderful staff, wonderful clients and a place like this to work at. I love what I do," she said.

It costs $35 for a half hour massage, and $55 for an hour. They also offer a couples massage for $120.
