New State Fair Foods Unveiled At Fundraiser

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Can't wait to eat your favorite Minnesota State Fair foods? Well, you have an opportunity to indulge one week before the kickoff of the Great Minnesota Get-Together -- all while helping to improve and preserve the fairgrounds.

The "Taste of the Fair" is a pre-party and fundraiser for the nonprofit Minnesota State Fair Foundation.

The foundation aims to restore and make improvements to the fairgrounds, its buildings and educational programs.

Twelve different State Fair vendors will be on hand, including Sweet Martha's Cookie Jar and Turkey To Go.

Attendees will also get a chance to sample three new foods: JonnyPops' all-natural frozen fruit and cream bars, Mancini's Beer Gelato and Green Mill's Pizza Tots.

Folks can also enjoy some classic midway games, a ride on the SkyRide and music by G.B. Leighton.

The event will be held Thursday, Aug. 14 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the International Bazaar on the fairgrounds. Organizers say 1,000 people have already RSVP'd
