Apartments To Help Homeless Youth Approved In Edina

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- After hours of debate, the Edina City Council passed a controversial project, by a unanimous vote.

Developers of 66 West Apartments say the goal is to provide housing to young adults who have experienced homelessness.

The 39 studio apartment building will be close to Southdale mall, providing job opportunities.

Council members did say they were concerned about adequate parking and security.

The one big change they made before approving this project was to add 24-hour staffing.
