National GOP Books $1M In Ads To Oust MN Congressman
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — National Republicans are pouring roughly $1 million in advertisements in September alone into Minnesota's 8th Congressional District in their bid to unseat Democratic Rep. Rick Nolan.
The National Republican Congressional Committee's big ad buy at Twin Cities TV stations, outlined in public filings this week, is just the latest sign that the northeastern Minnesota district will be a big-dollar battleground this fall.
The new ads will start to air next week. Nolan is facing GOP challenger and businessman Stewart Mills.
Political observers have pegged Nolan as among the most vulnerable incumbents this fall, and the outside money has followed. With national Republicans' latest ad buy, more than $2 million in advertisements have poured into the newly competitive district.
