Attorney: 2nd 'Slenderman' Stabbing Suspect Not Fit For Trial

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — An attorney for one of two 12-year-old girls charged with stabbing a classmate in an attempt to please a fictional character says he doubts she is mentally fit to stand trial.

One of the girls charged in the case was ordered to receive treatment in August after a judge decided she wouldn't be able to help with her defense if her case went to trial.

Attorney Joseph Smith Jr. represents the second girl in the case. He told the judge in a letter dated Friday that a forensic psychologist determined his client also would not be able to help with her defense.

Prosecutors say the girls plotted for months before attacking their classmate in May to please Slenderman, a character in online horror stories. Their classmate survived.
