13-Year-Old Charged As Adult In Racine Stabbing

RACINE, Wis. (AP) — Prosecutors have filed adult attempted homicide charges against a 13-year-old boy for allegedly stabbing an 11-year-old girl as she was walking home from school in Racine.

The criminal complaint alleges the boy suspected the girl of "messing" with his girlfriend and stabbed her several times with a pocket knife Monday. It says she needed stitches to close wounds to her upper left arm, left forearm and upper left chest.

The complaint also says the boy told police he didn't know the girl or friends who were with her. But the wounded girl told police she believed the stabbing was related to bullying she experienced at school last year.

The boy made an initial court appearance Thursday on charges of attempted intentional first-degree homicide, which carry a potential 60-year prison sentence.
