Minneapolis Police Calibrate 'Shot Spotter' System

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis Police are calibrating their Shot Spotter system Thursday night with the most effective technique: firing real guns.

Police say they will test the system between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. by firing guns into bullet traps at several sites throughout the city.

Officers will be stationed at sites to ensure safety and security during testing.

The locations of the testing sites are kept secret from the public for "proprietary and investigatory reasons," according to police officials.
