Best Buy Employee Charged With Slashing Electronics Prices To Zero
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A Best Buy employee is accused of using the computer at his Coon Rapids store to dramatically lower prices on high-end electronics.
Chevisrameece Deshaun Blackson, 22, of Oak Grove, Minn., has been charged with theft for allegedly stealing almost $5,000 worth of tablets, cell phones and video game consoles.
Police say he would ship the electronics to other Best Buys around the Twin Cities metro and pick them up at the discounted price--or for free.
For example, on Aug. 17 he marked down a $500 iPad to $1 and purchased it from the Richfield Best Buy, according to the criminal complaint. On Aug. 18, he's accused of marking a $450 Microsoft Surface 2 and a $400 iPad Mini as "free" and picking them up in Bloomington.
Blackson made five such pick-ups in August, according to the criminal complaint.
Blackson faces up to five years behind bars and a $10,000 fine.
