Fans Talk AP Situation Ahead Of New Orleans Game

NEW ORLEANS (WCCO) – The Saints are looking for a win against the Vikings Sunday because it's their home opener and they're 0-2.

The Vikings want a win for different reasons.

Several Vikings fans could be seen over the weekend on Bourbon Street. Some wore Adrian Peterson jerseys, showing support for the embattled All-Pro running back accused of child abuse.

"I support Adrian Peterson 100 percent," one fan said. "As a parent, I've messed up many times, maybe disciplining my child or doing something I wasn't supposed to do, but we mess up as parents."

Other fans didn't see it that way.

"I do have an AP jersey," one man said, "and I chose not to wear it."

That fan said the pictures of the spanking bothered him.

Peterson told police he spanked his 4-year-old son with a tree branch in May.

After being indicted and losing many corporate sponsors, Peterson was banned from all Vikings team activities until the situation is resolved in court.

We'll see how his absence affects the team on Sunday.
