Minnesota Spring Wheat Harvest Nearly Complete

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota's spring wheat harvest is nearly complete but is still about 10 days behind the average pace.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Minnesota farmers had 5.4 days suitable for field work last week, and that brought the small grains harvest to near completion.

The spring wheat harvest is 91 percent complete, but it's the slowest harvest pace since 2009.

Nineteen percent of the corn crop is mature, way behind the five-year average of 41 percent. Corn crop conditions remain unchanged from last week at 71 percent good to excellent. Eighty-one percent of the soybean crop was turning color or beyond, which is four days behind average.

While frost damage was reported throughout much of Minnesota last week, crop conditions remained largely unchanged.
