MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota State, Mankato has been picked first in both the Western Collegiate Hockey Association coaches and media preseason hockey polls.
The Mavericks are the defending Broadmoor Trophy champion for winning the WCHA playoffs in March. Both teams were in the NCAA Tournament last year, with the Bulldogs advancing to the second round.

Ferris State goalie C.J. Motte was selected as the league’s Preseason Player of the Year by WCHA coaches. Minnesota State senior forward Matt Leitner was the media’s choice.
