Zimmer Hopes To Improve Vikes' 'Mindset' After Lions Loss

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - The Vikings offense was toothless against the Lions Sunday.

In the last 15 quarters of their four losses, they have scored just one running touchdown--by Christian Ponder in Green Bay.

After Sunday's game, a frosty Mike Zimmer didn't hold back his frustration in a press conference, with boasts of tardiness fines and complaints about the team's sullen attitude when losing.

"I had to fine a lot more guys this week," he said on Sunday in Winter Park. "We're undisciplined, but trust me, we're going to get disciplined."

On Monday, he took a more measured approach.

"I just kind of flew off the handle a little bit yesterday, I'm kind of an emotional guy," he said. "It is not a lack of discipline, it's [that] we're not performing as well as we need to."

Zimmer said if they want different results, it's not just their actions that need to change--it's their mindset.

"I want them to understand that it's not okay to lose," he said. "I can remember telling the defense the same thing in Cincinnati a long, long time ago. That we have to develop this mindset that it's not okay to lose, it's not business as usual."
