Nolan Outpacing Mills In Campaign Fundraising
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Rep. Rick Nolan has outpaced Republican challenger Stewart Mills in recent fundraising with the November election closing in.
Between July and September, Nolan pulled in about $647,000 compared with about $435,000 for Mills. But Mills also loaned his campaign $128,000 during that same period.
Nolan had nearly $526,000 in the bank at the end of September, while Mills had almost $255,000.
For the entire election cycle, Nolan has raised $1.76 million while Mills has amassed $1.7 million in fundraising and personal loans.
Nolan is seeking his second consecutive term after unseating then-freshman Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack in 2012. Nolan also served in Congress in the 1970s.
Northeastern Minnesota's 8th District was represented for decades by Democrat Jim Oberstar but is now a swing district.
