USA Bandy Hall Of Fame To Induct 1st Members

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A sport that combines ice hockey and soccer is getting its due in the Twin Cities.

The USA Bandy Hall of Fame will induct its first members on Oct. 22 at the Aster Cafe in Minneapolis. The 6 p.m. induction ceremony is open to the public.

The inaugural class is based on both players and bandy officials who brought the sport to Minnesota in 1980. Team USA made its first international appearance in 1981.

Bandy is played on an ice rink, with players using a stick to push a ball toward the other team's goal.

The USA Bandy Hall of Fame will be housed at the Guidant John Rose OVAL in Roseville, training site for the U.S. bandy team.
