Halloween is almost here. Last week I took a look at not-so-scary Halloween events around the Twin Cities.
This week, let's take a look at a sampling of Halloween events around the state.
Of course, there's plenty going on in Anoka, the Halloween Capital of the World: Halloween Bingo, house decorating contests, Spooktacular Carnival, parade, costume contests and a Gray Ghost 5K run and 1-mile fitness walk.
Glenwood's Fright Nights is held Friday and Saturday nights in October (and Nov. 1) and is an indoor event, definitely for the strong of heart (and not recommended for those under 13). However, this Saturday afternoon from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. is a family, non-scary event. Bring the little ones without worry.
In Duluth, the William A. Irvin offers Haunted Ship Tours Oct. 23 - 25 and Oct. 29 - 31. This self-guided tour through the maze of a ship has supernatural happenings that are part of the act -- or are they? Visitors under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Farmamerica in Waseca invites you to All Hallow's Eve on Oct. 25. This is a scare-free family event, with trick-or-treating, a magic show, games and pumpkin carving.
Oct. 25 marks the opening of the week-long Pumpkins at the Depot. More than 100 elaborately-carved pumpkins and pumpkin sculptures will be on display in the historic depot on Levee Road. There will be additional events on the afternoon of Oct. 25 as well.
Hope for good weather on Oct. 26, because the Afton Halloween Trick-or-Treat Trail is an outdoor event. Follow the St. Croix Trail into Afton for trick-or-treating, crafts and games.
Do you dare to enter the Monster Manor in Sauk Centre? Open the evenings of Oct. 24 - 25 at the Stearns County Fairground and in its 32nd year, brace yourself for a scary good time. Children under 5 are not allowed.
