2nd Child Protection Petition Filed Against Adrian Peterson

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- More legal problems may be in store for Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

Prosecutors in Hennepin County have filed a second child protection petition. It comes days after Peterson pleaded no contest to recklessly injuring his 4-year-old son by hitting him with a switch.

The county attorney's office says this case has made it necessary to open a file for Peterson's other children, who live here in Minnesota.

The petition means Peterson cannot have unsupervised contact with the children.

Meanwhile, a new report from ESPN says the NFL Players Association has asked the league to reinstate Peterson immediately.

As of writing, the NFL wants to review the running back's case and meet with Commissioner Roger Goodell before making a decision whether to allow him to return.
