Garth Brooks' Chosen Fan Has Whirlwind Week

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A Garth Brooks fan is celebrating an unforgettable week after her show-stopping moment in Minneapolis.

Teresa Shaw's sign caught Brooks' eye at Target Center last Friday.

The superstar took it and gave Teresa his guitar, a special moment that has been viewed by millions online.

Brooks' generosity has jump-started a whirlwind week for Teresa.

Leaned against her living room wall in Osage, Iowa, the guitar is a reminder of a week that still doesn't seem real.

"It's been crazy and amazing," Teresa said.

She's still dazed from a week that started with a sign to let her favorite singer know she'd just finished a round of chemo in her fight against breast cancer.

"I just wanted to see if he'd autograph my sign," she said.

The moment's been viewed nearly four million times online, and has been featured on radio and TV stations across the country.

But when a producer called from Entertainment Tonight, Teresa knew the story wasn't over yet.

"She said it would be so cool if both of you were there, and I thought, 'Oh my gosh. I don't even know what to say,'" Teresa said.

This time, Teresa became the surprise for the man she moved with her story

"You forget they're normal people too and go through the same things," she said.

Brooks lost his mother and a sister to cancer.

"They go through the same heartbreak as everybody else," she said. "It gives me inspiration for the fight."

Back home from L.A., Teresa is now ready to now face what's next in that fight.

"It's like you don't know what's going to happen," she said. "I'm going to enjoy what I can and keep on living."

Teresa's friends and family are selling pink bracelets for $10 to raise money for her treatment.

Teresa's daughter gave Garth Brooks a bracelet, and he's been spotted this week wearing it in interviews.

Teresa will have a double mastectomy in January at the Mayo Clinic and then has six weeks of radiation left.
