Minnesota Sets A Record On 'Give To The Max' Day

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesotans helped break a record on Thursday, Give to the Max Day. The 24-hour campaign of online donations ended at midnight.

More than 120,000 people donated money adding up to more than $18 million for charities and non-profit organizations. That's a new record, and about $1 million more than last year. The charities in the top 10 for donations get extra grants, and Cretin-Derham Hall High School topped the overall list.

They were followed by Augsburg College and Second Harvest Heartland. The Give to the Max web site had problems last year with so many people trying to donate over the lunch hour that the system crashed.

We know they made updates, but haven't heard if they ran into similar issues this year.
