White Bear Lake Student Dies After Campus Accident
WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (WCCO/AP) — A White Bear Lake High School student has died 11 days after being injured in an accident on campus.
A letter sent to parents says Sawyer Moeller was a freshman at White Bear Lake's North Campus. He died Friday after being injured Nov. 10.
A police statement Saturday says officers arrived at the school to find a boy who appeared to have a neck injury. They saw a red mark or abrasion on his neck and administered CPR until medical personnel arrived and took him to Regions Hospital.
The statement says there were no witnesses.
Capt. Dale Hager told The Associated Press on Saturday that police can't release more details on the accident until they hear back from the medical examiner. He didn't have Sawyer's age. Hager said further information likely would be released Monday.
The letter to parents included advice to parents on how to help their children cope with the grief, and said grief counselors are available to students. It also said Sawyer will live on through organ donation.
Fellow high school freshman Sisloob Lo remembers his friend as a happy kid who had many friends.
"If any of his friends were sad, he wouldn't stop until they were happy again," Lo said.
Lo also said Moeller was a hugely talented member of the school choir and a helpful crew member for the school's most recent play.
"We thought he was the best singer in the choir, he loved the Beach Boys," Lo said.
Lo said some students are planning to gather in the school theater after classes on Monday and sing some of Moeller's favorite songs and light candles in his honor.

A letter sent home to parents read, "His mother asked that we share with the school community that through organ donation, Sawyer will live on in the lives of others. We extend our sympathy to Sawyer's family, friends and all members of our community who are affected by this death. Sawyer will be greatly missed."
The letter also says grief counselors were made available to students.
