Board To Put Final Stamp On Minnesota Election

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota voters had their say, but this year's election is only now at its official conclusion.

The state Canvassing Board was to convene Tuesday to put the final stamp on an election that saw Democrat incumbents comfortably win races for governor and Senate after being subjected to recounts in their prior campaigns. For their part, Republicans steamed to a majority in the Minnesota House.

The board made up of four judges and the secretary of state will certify results of the Nov. 4 election.

In doing so, the members will cement what is likely to be one of the lowest turnouts in many years. Preliminary figures put turnout of eligible voters at just more than 50 percent.
