MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Dick from Stillwater asked: When was the last time the Gophers had possession of the Pig, Jug and Axe?
Earlier this season, Minnesota beat Michigan to take the Little Brown Jug and Iowa for Floyd of Rosedale.
If the Gophers beat the Badgers on Saturday, they will also be in possession of Paul Bunyan’s Axe. The last time that happened was 1967.
Minnesota also has the Governor’s Victory Bell after beating Penn State in 2013. With a win over Wisconsin, that would mean Minnesota would have possession of all four trophies for which they play.
Andrew from Little Falls wants to know: Why does the cold weather make our noses run?
One of the many things our noses do is warm up the cold air from outside before it gets to our lungs. It adds that warmth by adding moisture, so that added fluid has to go somewhere, right?
Rachel from Minneapolis asked: Why do handbell ringers wear gloves?
According to Bill Mathis, musical director for Bells of the Lakes, the oil from fingers can tarnish the bell, requiring more polishing. But another major reason is to protect the hands of the bell ringers from blisters.
“These big bells are heavy enough that when you play them, they do wear on your hands,” Mathis said.
