Anoka County Men Accused of Burglarizing RC Helicopters, Motorized Scooter

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Two Anoka County men are accused of breaking into Coon Rapids businesses and stealing remote-controlled helicopters and a power scooter.

Derek Dennis Bradshaw, 34, of Coon Rapids, is charged with two counts of second- and third-degree burglary.

Shortly after the burglary of three remote-controlled helicopters from King Kong Hobbies on Nov. 27, police pulled Bradshaw over in his F-150.

In his truck, police found two remote-controlled helicopters, red-handled wire cutters and a set of two-way radios, according to the Anoka County criminal complaint. A third helicopter was found in a large black box thrown from the truck while police were trying to detain it.

Matthew Lee Wright-Mark, 20, of Anoka a passenger in Bradshaw's truck, was listed as a co-defendant in the complaint, though it's unclear if formal charges were filed against him.

Wright-Mark told police he broke into the hobby shop by using a center punch to the window, according to the complaint. Damage to the window was calculated at $1,400.

Bradshaw told police he waited in the truck as a look-out during the burglary, the complaint said.

The burglary was captured on surveillance footage. The hobby shop has been burglarized six times in the past several years, and a specialized alarm system loaned to the business by police was triggered during the burglary.

Wright-Mark was arrested on a warrant related to the burglary a week earlier of a power scooter and several oxygen tanks from Liberty Oxygen and Medical Supply.

He's charged with two counts of burglary involving a center punch tool.

He told police he took the red Little Rascal to Bradshaw's house, where they were working to modify it, according to the criminal complaint.

Bradshaw and Wright-Mark face up to ten years behind bars and a $20,000 fine if convicted.
