Gophers' Bristedt Selected For World Junior Championships

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota announced Monday that freshman men's hockey player Leon Bristedt has been selected to the preliminary camp roster for Team Sweden in the upcoming World Junior Championships.

Bristedt is a native of Stockholm, Sweden, and is the third Minnesota player selected for the tournament. Other Gophers competing for roster spots include Hudson Fasching and Ryan Collins, who will try out for Team USA.

Bristedt played for Sweden in the 2013 World Junior Championships and had three goals and an assist in five games. In 12 games with the Gophers, he has two goals and two assists.

The 2015 World Junior Championships start on Dec. 26, and the gold medal game for the event will be Jan. 5.
