MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Drunk driving arrests are on the decline Minnesota.
The state patrol says they’ve arrested 21 percent fewer people this year for driving while intoxicated, than this time last year.
Minnesota’s extra DWI enforcement campaign started in November and continues through the holidays.
Law enforcement officials arrested 578 people the past two weekends.
It’s a reminder to always have a designated driver if you plan to drink alcohol.
If you’re not sure how much you’ve had to drink, there’s an app for that: It’s called ENDUI, as in “end DUI.”
It was created by law enforcement officials in Maryland.
Users enter their sex, height, weight and number of drinks consumed to help figure out their blood-alcohol level.
They also can play two interactive games to test reaction time and cognitive agility.
The app uses GPS technology to call cabs and pre-loaded phone numbers for potential designated drivers.
Law enforcment officials say you should never drink and drive.
The app is available for free on Android and iPhone.
