Mood Upbeat In Vikings Locker Room

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - The difference in their record was modest, going from ten losses to nine.

But as the Vikings cleaned out their lockers and said goodbye to the 2014 season, there was a completely different vibe in the locker room than on this day last year.

"Yeah, it's funny how just a year can change on the turn of a dime," defensive end Brian Robison said.

"We can feel where this program is going," said receiver Jarius Wright. "And we feel like we're definitely on our way up."

"I think everybody's probably excited that we're pointed in the right direction," linebacker Chad Greenway said. "Last year just seemed to have a different vibe, like you said, that we just weren't going in that direction, that things were kind of negative and just the tone, really, with the whole season. And this year, with the coaching change, bringing in coach Zimmer, everything's been very positive. Defensively, on our side of the ball, we made some improvements. We didn't get to where we wanted to go, but we did make some drastic improvements. And I think obviously when you have a young quarterback who plays well, everybody in the organization gets excited, because clearly you know that that's a key position to success in the NFL."

But an increase in positivity brings with it an increase in expectations. So whatever they were for this season at the end of last year, they're certainly higher now for 2015.

"Oh definitely," cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said.

"Especially for us inside this locker room, expectations are very high," Wright said.

"We can tell where we can go," safety Harrison Smith said. "Not that it's definite or that we're there, but we know what we can do."
