Delta Flight Headed For MSP Returns To LAX After Problem Report

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Delta Air Lines Boeing 757 has landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport after reporting a mechanical problem shortly after departure on a flight to Minneapolis.

The aircraft landed at about 9:35 a.m. Tuesday and was followed across the airfield by fire trucks.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says Flight 2116 experienced the problem after departure from LAX.

The nature of the problem was not immediately known.

Gregor says the aircraft went into a holding pattern to burn off fuel before landing.
