Minneapolis Nixes Proposed 900-Foot Skyscraper Proposal
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Any Minneapolis residents eager to see the record for the city's tallest building broken were dealt a disappointment Friday afternoon.
According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, the proposal that would have led to an 80-story skyscraper to be constructed on the old Nicollet Hotel block was rejected.
The city said the bid for the 900-foot tower was rejected because of a lack of specifics about how the project would be funded.
There are still three other proposals in the mix for the plot, though none of them come within earshot of threatening the 55-story IDS Center's ongoing reign as the city's tallest building.
