Police: U Of M Students Warned About Pranks Near LRT Trains

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota Department of Public Safety issued a warning to students on Monday after a series of alleged pranks along the light rail transit line on campus.

University of Minnesota police said they've gotten recent reports of pranks from operators on the Green Line on Washington Avenue between Hurton Boulevard and Church Street. Authorities said students are pretending to jump in front of trains or are pretending to push friends in front of trains.

Green Line operators told police the alleged pranks are happening primarily on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Authorities said the pranks are not only dangerous and a bad idea, but it's also illegal and could result in jail time or a fine.
