Dayton Heads Out On Transportation Roadshow

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton is taking his pitch for new road construction money on the road.

Dayton was headed Wednesday to Mankato to drum up local support for a transportation proposal he put before lawmakers. The package depends on increases to gasoline taxes and vehicle registration fees to pay for road and bridge projects and other taxes to fund mass transit upgrades.

Dayton's planned to appear at a Minnesota Department of Transportation regional headquarters building with local mayors and business officials. His focus was to be on Highway 14, a vital stretch in southern Minnesota that has long been on the list of roadways in need of urgent repair.
