Lehman Named Vice-Captain For 2016 Ryder Cup At Hazeltine

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska will be the host of the 2016 Ryder Cup, and there will be a face familiar to Minnesota golf fans helping lead Team USA against Europe.

Tom Lehman will serve as one of the team's Vice-Captains. He was previously captain of the squad in 2006 and played on three Ryder Cup teams himself. He will be one of four Vice-Captains as the squad will have two that were previously captains and two that have extensive experience in the event.

The PGA of America announced Tuesday that Davis Love III will be the Captain of Team USA. He was also the captain two years ago. He's the 28th person to serve as captain since the event started in 1927.

The U.S. Ryder Cup team will consist of the top-8 ranked players in the world based on points after the conclusion of The Barclays on Aug. 28, 2016. There will also be four captain's picks, three of which will be made after the BMW Championship on Sept. 11, 2016. The final pick will be made after the Tour Championship on Sept. 25, 2016.

The 2016 Ryder Cup is set for Sept. 27-Oct. 2, 2016.
