Cigarette Found To Be Cause Of North Mankato House Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – No one was injured after a house fire in North Mankato Tuesday evening.

According to the North Mankato Police Department, around 9:35 p.m. an officer was out on patrol when they discovered a house fire in the 1200 block of Lake Street.

The fire was on the deck of the house and was burning the back porch area.

Officials said the officer was able to make contact with the residents of the home, who were inside at the time.

The residents were able to evacuate and the fire was extinguished.

No one was injured.

North Mankato fire crews said the blaze was caused accidentally by a lit cigarette that was exposed of on the deck.
