3 Iowa Cities Among Nation's 'Most Hipster' ... And None From MN

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Think the Twin Cities are a hotbed for hipsters? Think again. Iowa's the next new thing, according to a new analysis.

The website FindTheBest just pulled numbers on American cities to see which ones were the most amenable to the hipster lifestyle.

Requirements included a wealth of young, educated people, ideally between the ages of 20 and 34, and a surfeit of cafes and yoga studios.

Minneapolis-St. Paul did not appear among the top 19 cities.

However, West Des Moines, Iowa City and Ames were all cited. Ames, in fact, was ranked second overall, just behind Hoboken, New Jersey.

The remainder of the list included such usual suspects as San Francisco; Seattle; and Boulder, Colorado. Another surprising omission: Portland, Oregon.
