MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – We’re coming up on the first weekend of spring and there are plenty of ways to celebrate in the Twin Cities.
With the arrival of spring comes the annual Macy’s Flower Show! The eighth floor of the downtown location will once again become a fantasy world, hosting gorgeous ferns, flowers and landscaping ranging from ancient to retro to modern. During the two-week run, local companies and restaurants will be on hand with samples and demonstrations. The show is free. It opens Sunday and runs through April 4.
Spring into Stillwater for the Wine Weekend Getaway. With a $25 ticket you can sample at three wineries, two breweries and get a passport to Stillwater downtown deals.
Celebrate the indigenous diversity of the Twin Cities Aztec Mexica New Year Festival. The two-day free event in St. Paul features traditional Mexica Aztec dance, art and games.
How about some spring time maple syrup fun? Come to Maple Syruping in Your Backyard at Fort Snelling State Park on Saturday or Sunday and learn how to get delicious maple syrup from the tree to your table. It’s $5 per car to get in.
Finally, your days to enjoy spring skiing at Afton Alps are numbered. Make plans to hit the slopes this weekend and participate in Afton Alps’ Food Shelf Frenzy, benefitting Second Harvest Heartland. By donating five or more non-perishable food items to the Frenzy on Saturday or Sunday you can get a full-day lift ticket for just $15.
