MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A woman gave birth in a car while on the way to the hospital in Carlton County Friday.

According to the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, officers received a call around 5:57 a.m. from Justin Jahr stating that he was on his way to the hospital as his wife was in labor. He asked to meet a Carlton County ambulance at their station.

The labor rapidly progressed, however, and Jahr had to stop the car at the intersection of County Road 3 and County Road 101.

The sheriff’s office said deputies arrived on the scene a few minutes later with an ambulance. Jahr and the officials helped deliver a baby girl.

Jahr, his wife and the baby were transported to Essentia-St. Mary’s Hospital. All are doing well.
