MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — This week we turn another page on the calendar and welcome in April. Deals expert Carrie Rocha Gets Us Movin’ with great bargains this month.

Here is what she suggests buying in April:

  • Post-Easter clearance. Yes, that includes candy for your dish at work, but also restock your supplies for next year on things like baskets and plastic Easter eggs. Pick up some of the small Easter basket filler toys and put them in your gift closet to use throughout the year as birthday gifts or party favors and prizes for my kids birthday parties.
  • Tax Day freebies and deals. We typically see a huge group of restaurants and some retailers offering up special one day freebies and deals on April 15 to commemorate the end of tax season. A list of tax day deals can be found here.
  • Earth Day. Earth Day is April 22 and as a result we typically see great deals on organic food and cleaning products, natural health & beauty items and composting and recycling supplies throughout the month.
  • Mother’s Day flowers. Mother’s Day is still 6 weeks off, but Rocha recommends ordering flowers for your mom before the end of April. Typically we see deeper discounts several weeks before a major flower-related holiday compared with the deals we see the week or two before.
