Perfect Work Attendance Lands Twin Cities Man A Free Mustang

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Twin Cities man had a good day at work on Wednesday.

Thirteen workers at the Owens & Minor distribution center in Mounds View had a chance to win a new Mustang.

The company has a national contest for those with perfect attendance at work, and all 13 team members at the Mounds View location did it.

As it turned out, it was a lucky guy named Mike Trombley who ended up with an April 1 he'll never forget.

Owens & Minor is the largest hospital and medical supply organization in the world. The car giveaway has been going on for the last 15 years.

But it was a particularly exciting year for the Mounds View team, because this was the first time in the history of the distribution center that the car was actually given away to one of its 13 team members.

In a tribute to April fool's day, the bosses tried to pass off a rust bucket as the give-away car. But then the shiny new Mustang made a grand entrance.

"I feel like I can't not be here every day," Trombley said. "This is my second year in a row with perfect attendance. I was expecting [the car], I told everyone here I was going to win it."

The 12 eligible people who didn't win the car seemed to be making the best of it.

Every employee at the distribution center got a free catered lunch.
