Gophers Women Sign Pair Of Junior College Transfers

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota women's basketball team has added two junior college players, to help fill the void left by star Amanda Zahui B's early departure for the WNBA.

Gophers coach Marlene Stollings announced Thursday the signing of forward Kynadi Johnson and center Karley Barnes to national letters of intent. They'll be eligible to play immediately.

The 6-foot-1 Johnson played two years at Butler Community College in Kansas, averaging 11.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season. She's from Garland, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.

The 6-foot-3 Barnes played two years at Tallahassee Community College in Florida, leading the team in rebounding each season. She's a native of Wisconsin who played at Milwaukee Vincent High School.
