Mike's Mix: Craft Cocktails At Target Field

Every Friday, Mike Augustyniak picks up a new cocktail recipe from a local mixologist. This week, he headed over to Target Field to check out the best cocktails for this year's Twins season.

It wasn't too long ago that a trip to the ballpark meant beer or a soft drink were your only options. Then, in 2012, Two Gingers Irish Whiskey and the Big Ginger showed up at Target Field.

New this season, Twins fans now have section 111 – the place where craft cocktails meet Crackerjacks.

"The craft distilling scene and craft cocktail scene is huge and we wanted fans to be able to have that experience when they come to a Twins game at Target Field," Twins spokesman Chris Iles said. "We worked with both Panther Distillery and Du Nord Craft Spirits to come up with some delicious cocktails -- working with their head distillers."

There are both classic cocktails – like a daiquiri, gin and tonic, and a Moscow mule, made with Du Nord's Fitzgerald Gin or L'etoile Vodka – and new recipes developed just for Twins fans.

The Apple Fizz, made with Panther's Spiked Apple Spirits, is one such recipe.
To make it, combine:

  • 2 oz Spiked Apple Spirits
  • 3 oz ginger ale
  • Lime wheel

Stir the ingredients together, and enjoy!

On colder days, you'll be able to get hot chocolate spiked with L'etoile Vodka, and maybe even some hot spiked apple cider.

And, just across the concourse from the new craft cocktail area is the new Barrio, where they serve up tequila delights like their signature Trinity Margarita.

All of the drinks are made to order, so feel free to make some requests with mixers.
