MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — WCCO-TV is remembering former film editor Claude Heisch, who passed away last week at the age of 89.
Heisch was born in Enghien Les Bains, France, and moved to the United States in 1950 after working as a photographer with the French military.
Heisch worked as a film editor for WCCO-TV for 39 years before retiring. He was an editor for many of the station’s shows for kids.
Friends said that Heisch was responsible for making sure that film of the beloved show “Axel and His Dog” was preserved.
Heisch was living with his wife of 51 years, Beatrice, in Belle Plaine when he died.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lutheran Home Chapel in Belle Plaine. Giving the eulogy will be Allan Lotsberg, who worked in front of the cameras at WCCO-TV most memorably as Clancy the Cop’s sidekick Willie Ketchem.
