Barway Collins' Mother Expected To Speak Thursday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The biological mother of Barway Collins is expected to speak on the death of her son Thursday afternoon.

Louise Karluah arrived from Liberia at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Wednesday.

Upon her arrival she went to the north Minneapolis funeral home where the 10-year-old boy's body is being preserved.

On Thursday, Karluah is expected to speak at a press conference at 2 p.m. After that, she'll visit Barway's school, Evergreen Park World Cultures Community School in Brooklyn Center.

Barway's funeral was postponed for Karluah's arrival. It will be held on Saturday at Shiloh Temple in Minneapolis. The service is open to the public.

Barway's father —Pierre Collins — was in court last week, requesting a leave from jail so that he could be escorted by deputies to the funeral home to say goodbye to the son he is accused of killing.

A judge denied that request.

Collins' next court appearance is May 14.
