MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities believe a 20-year-old woman who was camping on a sandbar in LeSueur County may have been swept away in the night by the Minnesota River.
Moriah Lynn Zwart of Le Sueur camped out with a friend on the river’s east bank Thursday night. At some point during the evening, she disappeared and did not return home. The friend notified police shortly before 7 a.m. Friday.
The Le Sueur County sheriff’s office has searched the immediate area and nearby river bottoms. The sheriff’s office said further investigation will focus on the Minnesota River.
Police say Zwart is believed to have been drinking.
