Kylie's Kids: Meet Gavin

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Kids can be incredibly strong and resilient when faced with a serious illness. But some have an attitude that goes far beyond anything you'd expect from anyone -- adult or child.

We first met Gavin Pierson back in 2013. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was just 5 years old and has had more than 20 surgeries since then.

However, this week's Kylie's Kid isn't about to let that stop him from reaching his dreams.

Now 8 years old, it was just last year Gavin was heading into brain surgery.

"Today, I'm going to have brain surgery so my brain tumor, Joe Bully, can be gone forever," he said at the time.

Joe Bully doesn't stand a chance against Gavin.

"He is messing with the wrong kid and I don't like it. He doesn't know who he's messing with," he said.

Joe Bully or not, Gavin's gearing up for the future. When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he replies, "Marine biologist, because I want to help animals."

He wants to move to Florida, but with plenty of trips back to visit mom of course.

"She is the best mom in the world and I love her and she loves me," he said.

Joe Bully is still there, but as you can see, Gavin is doing great and able to live a normal life outside of the hospital.
