Bird Flu Strikes 2 More Flocks, Upping Total Affected To 82
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The bird flu virus continues to infect flocks in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Board of Animal Health said Tuesday that two turkey flocks in Kandiyohi County likely tested positive for the disease, which bumps the total number of affected farms to 82.
This news comes a day after bird flu sealed the fate of 1.1 million chickens in Nicollet County. That flock was the largest operation to be hit by the virus since the outbreak began in Minnesota.
So far, the state's poultry producers have had to euthanize more than 5.3 million birds.
