Man, 92, Not Wearing Seat Belt Killed In 2-Car Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 92-year-old man has died after a two-vehicle car accident in Stearns County Thursday afternoon.

According to the St. Cloud Police Department, Alvin Val Hennen, of St. Cloud, was struck when he entered an intersection during a red light.

Upon arrival, police learned that 27-year-old Rochelle Ann Braegelmann, of Richmond, was driving westbound on Veterans Drive when she approached the intersection of 33rd Avenue North. Braegelmann had a green light and began to drive through the intersection when Hennen drove into the intersection going the opposite direction.

Police said Hennen had been traveling southbound on 33rd and attempted to continue straight across Veterans Drive after the light had turned.

Braegelmann hit Hennen at a right angle. The collision caused Hennen's car to hit a building located on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Hennen was not wearing a seat belt. He was transported to St. Cloud Hospital where he later died.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
