State Patrol: Crash East Of Hutchinson Kills Man, 81

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An 81-year-old Hutchinson man died Sunday morning in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 7 just east of Hutchinson, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 9:53 a.m. on Highway 7 in McLeod County. The State Patrol says a Ford Explorer was stopped on eastbound Highway 7, waiting to turn northbound onto Omega Avenue when it was rear-ended by a Nissan Pathfinder and forced into oncoming traffic.

The Ford Explorer was then hit by a GMC Yukon that was heading westbound on Highway 7. The drivers of all three vehicles suffered non-life threatening injures. An 81-year-old man who was a passenger in the Ford Explorer was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as George J. Hormann of Hutchinson.

The McLeod County Sheriff's Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
