Mpls. Restaurant Donates Proceeds From 3-Day Fundraiser To Nepal

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A three-day fundraiser at a Minneapolis restaurant raised a huge chunk of money for people on the other side of the world.

Himalaya Restaurant raised more than $33,000 for victims of the earthquake in Nepal.  Owners of the Himalaya Restaurant wrote out the big check Tuesday, which comes from profits, operating expenses and workers' salaries accumulated over three days last week.

Nahveen Shrestha was overwhelmed by how much was raised.

The Association of Nepalese in Minnesota is forwarding the donation to the Red Cross, who'll take it to those in need in Nepal.  The mountainous country was hit by a massive earthquake on April 25th, killing thousands. Another one shook the region Tuesday.
